The Blood Connection is establishing a program to work with clinicians and our community to locate positive COVID-19 patients who have recovered to take part in FDA-approved COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Collection.
Studies suggest that using the plasma had some success in reducing symptoms and death in past outbreaks, but its true efficacy has not been proved in rigorous clinical trials.
If you have recovered from COVID-19 and wish to donate, please contact us to make an appointment by calling (864) 751-1168.
If you were diagnosed with COVID-19, are recovered, and would like to donate Convalescent Plasma, please have your doctor fill out the form below.
Donor must have had a positive antibody test or a previous/documented positive COVID-19 test and must be symptom-free for at least 14 days. Positive test documentation/results can include the following:
- A copy of the donor lab results showing a positive test for COVID-19 which shows the date of the positive test.
- A document from their healthcare provider stating that the donor had a positive test for COVID-19 and the date of the positive test. This document must be on the letterhead or prescription pad of the healthcare provider and must be signed and dated by the healthcare provider.
- Donors MUST make an appointment for collection at one of the TBC collection centers by calling 864-751-1168.
Donors may donate convalescent plasma once every 14 days. Max donation frequency is 4 times within 8 weeks. Once the donor reaches their max, they must take a 6 week break with no donations. After the break, the donation cycle may be repeated.
